A formula for abundance.
I recently did my first plant medicine journey and I used it to focus on living from a place of abundance. I grew up in a working class family and never learned how to feel safe with surplus. I’ve watched myself make some seriously stupid investment decisions, losing hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last several decades, unable to stop myself. I’ve also done decades of deep inner work and got to the point where I was confident that whatever was in my way was something I could not access consciously. So when a trusted friend shared with me the transformational experience they had during a plant medicine journey, my Sacral said ‘oh yeah, do that.’ I was not expecting the extreme clarity and calm that followed. The origin stories that were trapped deep inside were keeping me stuck on a path where accumulating money and stuff mattered most instead of freeing me to live the life of simplicity I craved. I was visited by George, my beloved St. Bernard that bit me when he was hungry and mistook me for an enemy when I was six; Emma, my yellow Labrador Retriever, whose care I outsourced to dog-walkers during my most difficult decade; and Piccolo, my current tuxedo cat whose sanctuary I invaded by feeding the strays. They represented food, lovingly prepared (George); play, without agenda, expectation, or outcome (Emma); and refuge, a quiet and safe place to rest (Piccolo). What lovely messengers. What clear messages.
